3D打印别墅可抗8级地震

Beijing sees the world’s first 3D-printed house. It can withstand an earthquake that measures eight on the Richter scale.

The two-storey house in Beijing’s Tongzhou District was completed in only 45 days thanks to non-stop printing. The house, with walls as thick as 0.24 meters, covers an area of 400 square meters.

这栋两层的房屋位于北京市通州区，由于不间断打印，仅用45天便打印完成。这栋房屋的墙厚0.24米，占地400平方米。

No human was involved in carrying out the giant project, just technical experts to supervise fully. Giant printer uses special reinforced concrete to build the villa, and then the decorators painted it and worked on finalizing. Different from general printing, 3D printer uses no ink, but melted fibers to print thin materials, step by step, layer by layer. In this way, a substantial solid object forms.
