Brown: I've been trying to call him for the last ten minutes, but your line was busy. Will he be back soon?

Clerk：I'm afraid not. He is away for the rest of the day.

Clerk：I'm afraid not. He has gone out of this town on business. May I take a message?

—"reach sb."在本对话中表示“(通过电话)联系到某人”。

例如：l can probably reach him on his mobile.(或许我能打他手机联系到他。)“reach"作 此义讲时，相当于“contact” 。

—"on business" 意思是“出差，有公务”。

例如：She's in New York this week on business.(这周她在纽约办事。)Do you travel abroad on business more than three times a year?(你一年要到国外出差三次以上吗?)
